Covid-19 cases in Afghanistan surge 36,937

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): As many as 108 new Covid-19 cases have been registered in different parts of the country during the last 24 hours, taking the nation’s overall tally to 36,937.

The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) said in a statement that 753 individuals underwent tests during the period and 108 of them were diagnosed with the coronavirus.

Kabul recorded 39 new cases while Herat saw 28 more infections. At least 18 fresh cases were registered in Ghazni, 10 in Kandahar, three each in Badghis and Logar, two each in Bamyan and Nimroz and one each in Nangarhar and Helmand.

Four people lost their lives to the pandemic while 98 recovered from it in the past 24 hours. The number of deaths thus reached 1,298. As many as 25,840 individuals have recovered from the disease so far.

The ministry called on the people to follow medical instructions and guidelines to prevent further spread of the novel coronavirus in the country.
