Taliban pledge to talk 3-day after prisoners release: Ghani

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani on Friday said the Talibaninfo-icon pledged to start intra-Afghan talks in three days if their 400 prisoners are released otherwise fighting will intensify.

Addressing Consultative Loya Jirgainfo-icon (CLJ) here the president said: “Your today and tomorrow suggestion is very important. I have no personal suggestion because I have trust on your patriotism and leadership.”

“The release of 4,600 Taliban prisoners showed government determination for peace. There is a strong willingness to end the 40-year war and give priority to the peace,” he added.

“There are certain individuals who committed murder and it not under the president authority to free inmate who committed murder only their sentence could be converted to long-term imprisonment,” Ghani said.

“I congratulate you that hurdles in the way of TAPI project has been removed and Afghanistaninfo-icon will become centre of connectivity.”

Ghani pledged announcing 15,000 positions for teachers and 1,000 more postions for ulemainfo-icon in the Ministry of Hajjinfo-icon and Religious Affairs
