KANDAHAR CITY (Pajhwok): The Spin Boldak-Chaman crossing was reopened on Saturday again to allow people stranded on both sides to travel.

Spin Boldak Commissar Mohammad Sharif Gharzai said after talks between Afghan and Pakistani officials, the crossing was reopened for pedestrians until 4:30pm today (Saturday).

He said besides visa and passports, travelers holding Tazkera and Pakistani ID cards crossed the gate.

But tribal elders in Kandahar said imposing hard restrictions on travelers by Pakistaninfo-icon was aimed to force people to hold visa and passport.

Mohammad Dawod Afghan, head of tribal councils, said Pakistan’s recent restriction on people’s movement caused serious problems and economically affected people living on both sides of the Durand Lineinfo-icon.

He said besides closure of crossing, Pakistan recently asked people to hold passport and visa for traveling to Pakistan.
