7 security personnel killed, 16 wounded in Ghazni bombing

GHAZNI CITY (Pajhwok): At least seven security personnel have been killed and 16 others wounded as a result of a car bombing in southern Ghazni province, an official said on Sunday.

Wahidullah Jumazada, the governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News the car bomb targeted a Public Protection Force unit at around 7:30pm on Saturday evening.

Tariq Aryan, spokesman for the Ministry of Interior (MoI), confirmed to Pajhwok that seven security personnel were killed and 16 others wounded in the bombing.

Jumazad said the explosion was followed by a gun attack but the gunmen were killed by the security forces immediately.

Naseer Ahmad Faqiri, the provincial council chairman, also said that seven security personnel were killed. However, he put the number of the injured at 18.

A security source, speaking on condition of anonymity, revealed 17 security personnel were killed and 30 others wounded.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the bombing.
