Ceasefire should top intra-Afghan talks’ agenda: Opinion poll

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): Afghan politicians, writers and stakeholders suggest ceasefire should be top priority during intra-Afghan talks, an opinion poll said on Tuesday.

In the poll, conducted by WAAMAA Research and Analysis Organisation, political affairs experts have been asked what should be top five priorities on the agenda of intra-Afghan talks.

After ceasefire, experts believe discussion on a future political system would top the agenda and that every discussion and decision should be taken in the supreme interest of the country.

The establishment of an interim government will be the third point of key discussion because the Talibaninfo-icon don’t want to be part of the existing system.

The fifth point is the future of Taliban fighters, their disarmament and integrating them in the mainstream system.

In addition, the experts say, safeguarding womeninfo-icon rights, human rights, release of prisoners, sharing of political power should be on the top of the agenda for intra-Afghan talks.

Javid Kotwal, head of the WAAMAA Organisation, said that 37 well-known writers, experts and politicians participated in the opinion poll and their views were incorporated in the survey.
