Paktika: ‘8 civilians killed, 15 injured in Pakistani shelling’

SHARANA (Pajhwok): Eight people have been killed and 15 others injured in artillery shelling from Pakistaninfo-icon into the Barmal district of southeastern Paktika province during the past one week, an official said on Tuesday.

According to the security official, Pakistani security forces fired hundreds of artillery shells into different areas of Barmal district during the past one week, leaving eight civilians dead and 15 others injured as a result.

Brig. Gen. Rahamdil Haidarzai, commander of the Thunder Military Corps second brigade, acknowledged Pakistan’s shelling.

He said one rocket landed on a mosqueinfo-icon and another on a house, in which one child was wounded.

Pakistani government officials have not spoken about the incident so far.
