Sulaiman Laiq laid to rest in Tapa-e-Maranjan

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): Renowned poet, writer and politician Sulaiman Laiq was laid to rest in Tapa-e-Maranjan graveyard of capital Kabul on Tuesday.

Laiq died on the first day of Eid-ul-Adha in a Germany hospital. He was critically wounded in a blast in Kabul in September 2019 and remained in hospital for treatment for a long time.

He was a key member of the Khalq Democratic Party, served as minister for Borders and Tribal Affairs and remained head of the National Radio Television.

Tahir Zahir, acting minister for Information and Cultural Affairs, who attended the burial ceremony, termed Laiq a multi-dimensional personality and said his demise was a huge loss for the country.

He said his ministry was ready to collect Laiq’s writing and work and publish them.

Mualvi Abdul Rahman Ade, member of the Afghanistaninfo-icon Sciences Academy, also termed Liaq’s demise a huge loss and said everyone who served the country in true means would be remembered by the history.
