Afghanistan records 76 new Covid-19 cases

KABUL (Pajhwok): At least 76 new Covid-19 cases were registered in different parts of the country in the last 24 hours, taking the nation’s overall tally to 37,345.

The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) said 418 individuals underwent tests during the period and 76 of them were diagnosed with the virus.

Herat recorded 26 new cases while Balkh and Kandahar saw 15 new infections each. Four cases suffered in Takhar, three each in Kabulinfo-icon, Nimroz, Daikundi and Laghman.

A statement from the ministry said Nangarhar and Badakhshan provinces recorded two cases each.

At least 10 people lost their lives to the pandemic while 279 recovered from the virus in the past 24 hours.

The number of deaths thus increased to 1,354. As many as 26,694 individuals have recovered from the disease so far.

The MoPH, citing a recent survey, said around one million people have been infected with Covid-19 nation-wide.

The ministry called on the people to follow medical instructions and guidelines to prevent further spread of the virus in the country.
