Sherpao seeks robust Af-Pak diplomatic, trade links

PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): Outgoing Afghan Ambassador Shukrullah Atif Mashal has conferred with a veteran Pakistani political figure on efforts for peace in Afghanistaninfo-icon.

Mashal called on Qaumi Watan Party Chairman Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao at his residence in Peshawar, the capital of northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, on Tuesday.

Peace in Pakistaninfo-icon as tied to stability in Afghanistan, Sherpao said, asking all stakeholders to play their role in promoting reconciliation peace in the neighbouring country.

Sherpao, also a former interior minister and two-time chief minister of KP, urged Islamabad to cement diplomatic and trade relations with Kabulinfo-icon to boost the bilateral trade volume and regional economy.

The upcoming intra-Afghan dialogue should be inclusive and open-ended, he opined, saying all stakeholders should give proposals for restoring peace to the war-torn country.
