KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): Acting Educationinfo-icon Minister Rangena Hameed on Thursday said the decision to reopen schools would be reconsidered if a single positive coronavirus was detected among students.

It is worth mentioning that after the outbreak of coronavirus, schools, universities and other educational activities were stopped. The government recently announced resumption of schools from August 22.

The minister told reporters here that strict precautions would be put in place to ensure that students were safe from the threat of coronavirus.

About the government’s decision to allow 11th and 12th class students to attend their schools, she said the time was running out and these students were allowed to complete their studies.

“If private and public schools ignore healthinfo-icon guidelines and implementation of measures, they would be dealt with in accordance with the law.”

Hamidi termed wearing masks as vital and added if health guidelines were ignored, the students could contract coronavirus.

According to the Ministry of Health, 37,424 people have contracted coronavirus since the outbreak of the virus and among them 26714 have recovered while 1362 others died.
