Aug 13, 2020 - 18:16

JALALABAD (Pajhwok): The youth in eastern Nangarhar province on Thursday complained the government never fulfilled promises with them about job and solution to their other problems.

Marking the International Youth Day, the youngsters said thousands of educated youth remained jobless across Nangarhar and many more struggled against extreme poverty and lack of facilities.

One of the speakers, Fathullah Siraj, a civil societyinfo-icon group leader, said he graduated from the law faculty of Nangarhar university two years back and had since been unable to land a job.

He said the government had failed to create jobs for the youth and as a result a large number of youth used drugs.

Another participant of the gathering, Nazifa Barakzai, said many families used to stop their daughters from pursuing educationinfo-icon because there were no job opportunities for educated girls.

Acting governor Mohammad Arif Momand said the participation of youth in the government framework had been increased as compared to the past and efforts were underway to provide them more such chances.
