Positive Covid-19 cases drop to 15pc: Usmani

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): The Ministry Public Healthinfo-icon (MoPH) on Thursday announced that coronavirus cases had decreased in the country but urged participants of Ashurainfo-icon to avoid gathering.

Ahmad Jawad Usmani, Acting Minister of Public Health, told a press conference here that the number of patients recovering from coronavirus recovery had risen to 71 per cent.

According to him, out of 10 million people infected with pandemic, around 9000 patients are being treated in Afghanistaninfo-icon.

Usmani added that 1,520 individuals underwent tests during Consultative Loya Jirgainfo-icon in Kabul and 31 of them were diagnosed with the virus and it showed a clear decrease in the number of positive cases across the country.

He said people infected with coronavirus had been isolated and were being observed by health teams.

The minister said corona positive cases had dropped from 70 percent to 15 percent nation-wide.

Also on Thursday, about 86 new Covid-19 cases were registered in different parts of the country in the last 24 hours, taking the nation’s overall tally to 37,424.

The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) said in a statement that 592 individuals underwent tests during the period and 86 of them were diagnosed with the virus.

Nine people lost their lives to the pandemic while 20 recovered from the virus in the past 24 hours. The number of deaths thus reached 1,363. As many as 26,714 individuals have recovered from the disease so far.

Earlier, the MoPH, citing a survey, recently said around one million people had been infected with the Covid-19 pandemic nation-wide.

The ministry called on people to follow medical instructions and guidelines to prevent further spread of the novel coronavirus in the country.
