300-bed Covid-19 hospital closed in Herat

HERAT CITY (Pajhwok): The 300-bed Ghoryani Hospital for coronavirus patients in western Herat province has been closed after a 50 percent decline in positive cases, an official said on Saturday.

Mohammad Rafi qSherzai, spokesperson for the Department of Public Healthinfo-icon, said the facility was shut after a 50 percent decline in coronavirus cases and to avoid waste of state resources.

He said the decision to close the Ghoryani Covid-19 Hospital was taken by the provincial committee for fighting the pandemic.

However, a 100-bed hospital of Shaheed Razai and 100-bed Shaidae hospital for coronavirus remain open.

Sherzai said 58 coronavirus patients were being treated in Shaidae Hospital and 10 in ShaheedRazae Hospital.

He said there was decline in the number of critical coronavirus patients in the province in recent days.

According to Public Health Department, 5,948 people have contracted coronavirus in the province, out of which 217 have died and 4,368 recovered.
