More than a dozen militants killed in Ghazni clashes

GHAZNI CITY (Pajhwok): More than a dozen Talibaninfo-icon militants have been killed and several security personnel wounded in southern Ghazni province, an official said on Saturday.

The insurgents attacked security checkpoints in the Chahar Diwar area of Andar district late on Friday night, the governor’s spokesman said.

Wahidullah Jumazada told Pajhwok Afghan News the attackers faced stout resistance from the security personnel.

In the ensuing firefight, he said, seven rebels were killed and several others wounded. At least four security force personnel were also injured.

In Kabulinfo-icon, the Ministry of Defence said nine fighters loyal to commanders Mullahinfo-icon Sharif and Fathullah were killed and six others killed in the Andar fighting.

A statement from the ministry said the security personnel, who seized arms and ammunition from the attackers, suffered no casualties in the clash. 

Elsewhere in the province, a gunbattle erupted in the Tasin area of Deh Yak district, said 203rd ANA Corps spokesman Aimal Khan Momand.

Three rebels of the Mullah Jan group were killed and four others injured in the clash, he added. The Taliban, however, are yet to comment on the incidents.
