KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): Six senior Afghan cricketers will skip the final week action of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL), a website reported on Wednesday.

The players including Mujeeb-ur-Rahman, Rashid Khan and Mohammad Nabi, could return home to participate in the Shpageeza Cricket League.

The event, featuring six teams, will get under way on September 6. The finals of the tournament are scheduled to be played on September 16.

ESPNcricinfo reported the final of CPL would take place on September 10. “We have sent an email to Cricket West Indies. We will have players from CPL on September 5,” said CAN’s acting chief executive officer.

In the Shpageeza Cricket League, Nabi captains Mis Ainak Knights while Mujeeb and Naveen represent Kabul Eagles.

Spin maestro Rashid Khan plays for Band-i-Amir Dragons in the 11-day contest, which contains 19 matches.
