3 projects put into service at Uruzgan airport

TIRINKOT (Pajhwok): Three projects relating to the civil airport terminal in central Uruzgan province were put into service on Friday after their completion at a cost of 84 million afghanis.

Local officials said the projects included air traffic control tower, taxiway and airplanes parking area. These projects took one year to complete and were put into service on Friday.

Uruzgan governor Asadullah Saeed, who inaugurated the projects, said the airport terminal was now technically equipped and flights would take place orderly without any problem.

Deputy head of the provincial council, Mohammad Karim Karimi, on the occasion said now flights from Uruzgan to Kabulinfo-icon would increase and flights from Tirinkot, the provincial capital, would take place to other provinces as well.

He urged the government to create an air corridor for export of local products and find buyers for them in international markets.
