KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): Afghanistaninfo-icon National Peace Movement (ANPM) activists have erected a protest tent in front of the Governor Office in western Herat province against not involving people in peace related matters.

The protest participants expressed their concern over the delay in intra-Afghan talks and ceasefire by the two sides.

ANPM member Mohammad Ismel Barak warned that peace could not be established until people were involved. He said their protest tent would remain erected until ceasefire was announced and people were allowed to take part in peace talks.

He said the Consultative Loya Jirgainfo-icon allowed the government to free the remaining 400 Talibaninfo-icon prisoners, but the government kept them captive at the behest of few embassies.

Syed Mohammad Hussaini, another member, said people from different ethnic groups in the west were taking part in the protest tent and their demands were participation of people in the peace process and implementation of ceasefire.

He said people were desperate for peace which was not only in the interest of Afghanistan but in the interest of all neighbours.

Nazir Ahmad Salehi, a civil societyinfo-icon activist, said Afghanistan was thirsty for peace but some foreign countries forced the delay in holding peace talks for their own interest.
