Kabul: Rice, gold prices down, afghani jumps

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): The prices of rice and gold decreased in Kabul during the outgoing week as compared to last week’s rates while the Afghan currency rose versus the US dollar.


Mohammad Hasan Sadiqi, a moneychanger at Sara-i-Shahzad market, told Pajhwok Afghan News one US dollar consumed 76.40afs while 1,000 Pakistani rupees 455afs compared to last week’s 77afs and 463afs respectively.

Zmrai Safi, the Food Dealers Association head, said the price of a 24-kilogram bag of Pakistaninfo-icon rice decreased from 2,150 to 2,100.

He said 50 kilograms of Pakistan sugar price increased from 2,270 to 2,310 afs.

He said the prices of other items remained stable as 49-kg of Kazakh flour was sold for 1,700afs and one kg of Indonesian green team for 320afs, and the same amount of African black team cost 350afs and 16-kg Khorshid cooking oil 1,510afs.

Mohammad Omaid Hassian at Mandawi market sold 49-kg of Kazakh flour for 1,720afs, 49-kg Pakistani sugar for 2,380afs, 24-kg Pakistani rice for 2,400afs, 16-kg Khorshid cooking oil for 1,540afs, one kg of Indonesian green team for 340afs, and the same amount of African black tea for 360afs

Gold price also goes down

Mohammad Javed, a jeweler at Lesa-i-Maryam, said one gram of Arabian gold price decreased from 3,800afs to 3,700 afs and the same quantity of the Russian variety from 3,300 to 3,200afs.

Fuel price remains unchanged

Ahmad Javed, a worker at Wazirabad fuel station, said one liter of petrol was sold for 35afs and the same quantity of diesel for 37afs.

Mohammad Sharif, a liquefied gas seller in Kolola Pushta area, said the price of one kilogram of the commodity was 60afs—same as last week’s rate.
