Afghan women believe Taliban won’t repeat history

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): The womeninfo-icon of Afghanistaninfo-icon are optimistic about lasting peace and believe that the Talibaninfo-icon would not repeat their past acts, a survey revealed on Thursday.

The survey was conducted by the Provincial Women Network and Equality Peace and Democracy organization interviewing 15,000 women on peace talks in 15 provinces of the country.

Nargis Jamal Musharaf, deputy head of the Women Alliance organization, told reporters here that the international community should closely monitor the peace process in Afghanistan besides supporting Afghan security forces.

She said the views of women were collected at mosques, homes, schools, government and private institutions.

A separate letter written by these two institutions thanked the international community for the revival of democratic system in Afghanistan and hailed their sacrifices in this regard.

They also thanked the international community for empowerment of women and youth and spending their energy for the development of Afghanistan.

They expressed optimism about an end to the decades old war and hoped the Taliban would not repeat the history of their regime.

A majority of women from different walks in Kabul and provinces demanded an end to the ongoing conflict and establishment of peace.
