China seeks orderly foreign troop pullout from Afghanistan

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): The Chinese foreign minister has underlined the need for a responsible withdrawal of US-led international troops from Afghanistaninfo-icon.

In an interview on Thursday, Wang Yi promised China would continue to support the reconciliation process in the war-devastated country.

“We are calling on the international community and regional countries to respect the principle of fairness and support the restoration of peace in Afghanistan,” he said.

Speaking to Xinhua news agency, Wang Yi asked the global fraternity to ensure an orderly withdrawal of foreign troops from the country.

“Being a sincere friend of Afghanistan, China wholeheartedly hopes that all parties to the Afghan talks will set the national interests as a priority,” the minister said.

The negotiating teams would manage to find an effective solution to the Afghan problem as soon as possible, Wang believed.

Under the February 29 peace pact with the Talibaninfo-icon, the United States has agreed to pull out all foreign troops from Afghanistan by the end of next year.
