Gvot, Taliban teams almost agreed on principles of negotiation

Sep 17, 2020 - 18:56

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): Afghan government and the Talibaninfo-icon delegations have almost reached an agreement over strategy, working rules and regulations for future talks.

Nader Naderi, member and spokesperson of the Afghan government team, told media through an audio clip that during a meeting with the Taliban on Wednesday almost 90 percent progress was made on the internal principles, rules and regulation of future meetings.

Naderi said they were discussing technical matters for future talks and there was need for being patient and more attentive instead of stressing over acceleration.

The first meeting of intra-Afghan talks was scheduled last Monday after the inaugural ceremony which was held on Saturday but both teams have not yet agree on rules and regulations for future meetings.

A well-placed source told Pajhwok Afghan News that both sides were stuck on two important issues on which no development had been taking place.

The Taliban have also acknowledged advancement on agreeing the principles for future meetings and talks and said that some points were left which would be discussed in the future.

Earlier, Taliban’s chief negotiator Maulviinfo-icon Abdul Hakim said that both parties should be patient and show tolerance during talks.
