KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): A number of militants released before the Doha peace negotiations have returned to the battlefield, the High Council for National Reconciliation (HCNC) chief has confirmed.

Dr. Abdullah, during an online conference with the US Council on Foreign Relations on Tuesday, hailed the ongoing intra-Afghan dialogue in Qatar as positive.

AFP quoted the government's lead negotiator as saying: "I do know some have returned to the battlefield, which is a violation of the agreement they had made."

He hastened to acknowledge that the overall level of Talibaninfo-icon-linked violence in the country remained unacceptably high for the people.

Abdullah added: "I repeat my call to the Taliban themselves and also to all partners who have any leverage over the Taliban to press on that point."

The HCNC chairman said he planned to visit Pakistaninfo-icon in coming days. However, he did not give a specific date for what would be his first trip to Islamabad in 11 years.
