Pakistan supports Afghan regional connectivity projects: Envoy

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): Pakistaninfo-icon’s new ambassador to Afghanistaninfo-icon Mansour Ahmad Khan has said his country supports the Afghan government’s regional connectivity projects and desires expansion of bilateral relations, a statement from the Presidential Palace said on Thursday.

The envoy, who called on President Ashraf Ghani at the Presidential Palace, presented his diplomatic credentials and warm regards and gratitude of Prime Minister Imran Khan and Army Chief Gen. Qamar Bajwa to the president.

Khan said his mission was expansion of bilateral relationship, trade and people to people contact. He renewed Pakistan’s support to the Afghan government for regional connectivity projects and expansion of bilateral relationship.

The president welcomed the new ambassador and said the Afghan government was interested in expansion of bilateral relationship, improved trade ties and facilitating the movement of Afghan refugees between the two countries.

Referring to the peace process, Ghani said the Afghan government was interested in developing regional consensus on the peace process and said an end to the conflict in Afghanistan was in the interest of the region.
