27 fighters killed in security operations: MoI

KABUL were killed and 25 others detained during a string of operations by Afghan forces in different parts of the country over the past 24 hours, the Ministry of Interior (MoI) said on Sunday.

The operations were conducted in Sar-i-Pul, Balkh, Maidan Wardak, Ghazni, Paktia, Herat and Helmand provinces, a statement from the ministry said. At least eight fighters were wounded.

Police, Afghan National Army, National Directorate of Security personnel, backed by coalition forces, took part in the offensives  to clear a number of the areas of insurgents.
