Nangarhar women’s rally urges ceasefire extension

JALALABAD (Pajhwok): In a rare show, tens of womeninfo-icon on Thursday staged a peaceful rally in the capital of eastern Nangarhar province to demand extension in the truce between government and Talibaninfo-icon.

Husna Ahmadzai, one of the rally organizers, said their aim was to ask both the warring parties to put to an end the decades-long conflict.

She said many women had lost their relatives to the conflict and they were tired of the war. She urged all the warring parties to reach their goals thorough political activities instead of violence.

The women, wearing ‘peace head-scarf, also urged the international community’s cooperation in ending the conflict.

It was for the first time women in Jalalabad went from one square to another to demand extension in the ceasefire.
