KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): Protesting residents on Monday closed the Kabul-Char Asiab highway, asking the government to restart work on the highway’s second lane.

The protestors closed the highway against traffic in Musam area till Tang-i-Logar for almost four hours.

Mujtaba Kakar, a resident and protestor, told Pajhwok Afghan News that for the past three years, the designing works for the 21-kilometer road had been completed but construction work was yet to be launched on it.

According to him, residents of the district and southern parts of Kabul faced huge problems due to traffic rush in the area. He said residents had to wait for hours while crossing the road.

He further said most of the time patients lost their lives due to traffic rush in the area.

A number of other protestors expressed similar views and urged the government to pay attention to the issue.

Meanwhile, Kabul police chief Maj. Gen. Mohammad Daud Amin urged the protestors to reopen the road for traffic. He promised to share the issue with the authorities concerned soon.
