Taliban, Indonesian officials talk Afghan peace process

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): Talibaninfo-icon leaders and Indonesian officials have held talks on the Afghan peace process and pullout of international troops from Afghanistaninfo-icon.

A team comprised of the militant movement’s representatives paid a four-day visit to Indonesia from August 12 to 15, said Taliban’s political office in Qatar.

Led by head of Taliban’s Qatar Office Mullahinfo-icon Sher Mohammad Abbas Stanikzai, the delegation met Indonesian Vice President Muhammad Jusuf Kalla, Forieng Minister Retno Marsudi and Special Representative for Afghanistan Hamid Awaluddin.

A statement from the Taliban’s political bureau said the two sides also conferred on relations between the movement and the Indonesian government. 

Earlier in the month, a Taliban team visited Uzbekistan for similar talks. The trip was supported the High Peace Councilinfo-icon, which said it had been kept in picture.
