Af-Pak transit trade to continue: Islamabad

Af-Pak transit trade to continue: Islamabad

Aug 17, 2019 - 13:46

PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): Pak-Afghan transit trade remains unaffected by Islamabad’s decision to suspend bilateral trade with New Delhi.

In Islamabad, the Ministry of Commerce said on Friday the Afghanistaninfo-icon-Pakistaninfo-icon Transit Trade Agreement (APTTAinfo-icon), 2010 remained effective despite Islamabad-Delhi tensions.

Pakistani businessmen fear the suspension of trade with India could spur the smuggling of Indian goods in the garb of APTTA.

The ministry directed the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) to take strict measures to prevent smuggling through third countries and under APTTA.

On August 9, the ministry had issued a statutory regulatory order suspending trade links with India, including a ban on all kinds of imports and exports
