MAIDAN SHAHR (PAN insurgents were killed and five others wounded during a clash with security forces in the Syedabad district of central Maidan Wardak province, an official said on Monday.
The clash erupted when a group of militants attacked a convoy of trucks carrying logistic supplies for foreign troops in the Salarzai area late on Sunday, the governor’s spokesman told Pajhwok Afghan News.
Eight vehicles were also damaged in the attack that left three Afghan soldiers and five private security guards escorting the convoy wounded, Shahidullah Shahid said.
The police chief, Col. Haqnawaz Haqyar, confirmed the casualties suffered by the attackers.
Bodies of the dead militants were handed over to tribal elders in the area, he said.
