QUETTA (PAN): Pakistani authorities on Friday stopped 40 trucks laden with Afghan traders’ food supplies at the Chaman border crossing in southwestern Balochistan province.

The vehicles had been stopped because they had neither registration documents nor or trade permits, a border police spokesman told Pajhwok Afghan News.

Haji Syed Agha said the food items were being transported to Afghanistan under a transit trade agreement between the neighbours, but the truckers did not have legal documents.

Under the pact, the police spokesman said, Afghan traders were required to furnish bank guarantees for their goods. Additionally, he explained, a driver must be physically fit and should have an international licence.
