LASHKARGAH (PAN): An Afghan National Army (ANA) soldiers was killed and a policeman injured during a clash between the two sides in the Marja district of southern Helmand province, an official said on Wednesday.
The infighting near an ANA check post comes after a speedy police vehicle passing the post released dust into the air, police chief, Brig. Gen. Mohammad Hakim Angar, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
A policeman was injured when the ANA troops opened fire at their vehicle, and an ANA soldier was killed when the police returned fire, he said.
The ANA troops then surrounded the district police headquarters, Angar said, adding a joint police and ANA team had been appointed to investigate the incident.
Separately, a Taliban commander was arrested and some ammunition seized during operations in Nad Ali district and Lashkargah city, an intelligence official said on condition of anonymity.
