MAZAR-I-SHARIF (PAN): More than two thousand people, a majority of them females, on Sunday received certificates on completing an eight-month literacy course in northern Balkh province, an official said.
The graduates, 80 percent of them women Director Qais Mehr Ayen told Pajhwok Afghan News.
Mohammad Din, 41, said he and his wife participated in the course at the request of their children. “Our children motivated us to take part in the programme,” he said.
Ayen said although education sector in Balkh had improved, still 75 percent populations were illiterate.
