JALALABAD (PAN): Kapisa and Kunduz provinces won their matches against Kunduz and Paktika in Etisalat Cricket Cup matches played in Nangarhar province, a cricket board official said on Wednesday.
The matches were played in Behsud Pul and Ghazi Amanullah Khan Stadiums in Jalalabad, the provincial capital, Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) spokesman Farid Hotak told Pajhwok Afghan News.
He said the 50-over matches had to be reduced to 20 overs aside due to rain. Kapisa won the toss and asked Ghor to bat first. Ghor were skittled out in 14 overs for a paltry 43 runs, thanks to a fiery spell from Rokhan, who bagged three wickets. Mohibullah took two wickets and Javed Safi one.
Kapisa raced to the target in eighth over for the loss of five wickets, with Basir scored 20 runs for his side. Imran and Shams captured two wickets each, Hotak said.
In the second duel, Kunduz won the toss but invited Paktika to bat. In the stipulated 20 overs, they scored 128 runs. Sadruddin contributed 28, Amir Kharotai 20 and Babar 17 runs. For Kunduz, Taj Mohammad and Yasir claimed two scalps each.
Kunduz reached the target in 18th over, losing eight wickets. Noorullah starred with the willow, chipping in 42 runs and Attaullah 18. Group leaders will qualify for the Etisalat Elite Cup.
