LASHKARGAH (PAN): Contracts for 85 development projects were on Monday signed between the provincial administration and different construction companies in southern Helmand province, officials said.
The projects, including 21 education, 19 rural development and 16 water management, would be executed over next nine months at a total cost of $6.5 million to be provided by the UK government, the governor said.
Mohammad Naeem told the contracts’ signing ceremony held at his office the projects were being implemented in Musa Qala, Sangin, Grishk, Nad Ali, Nawa, Marja and Garamser districts. He hinted at implementing more projects costing $8.5 million to improve governance.
The Prosecutor’s Office head, Abdul Samad Siddiqui, said the projects would be closely monitor by an authorised team, adding in case of corruption or low quality works, the companies concerned and relevent department officials would be booked.
