SHARAN (PAN fighters were killed as a result of an airstrike and a ground operation by security personnel in the southeastern province of Paktika, officials said on Friday.

Six Taliban from the Wana town of Pakistan’s Waziristan tribal region were among seven fighters killed in the airstrike that took place on Thursday night in the Mangaritai area of Barmal district, provincial police chief, Dawlat Khan Zadran, told Pajhwok Afghan News.

A 10-day operation codenamed Pamir, led by the Afghan National Army (ANA) in Barmal, Gayan and Zherok districts ended on Friday, said the second brigade commander of the 203rd Thunder Military Corps, Brig. Gen. Zmarai Khan.

Two militants including a Pakistani national from the central Punjab province were killed and a third detained by the security personnel, he said.
