Maulvi Attaullah, an scholar, said suicide attacks had killed a huge number of innocent people, saying such assaults were forbidden in Islam.
He told Pajhwok Afghan News suicide bombers were sent to Afghanistan by its neighbours, who did not want the Afghans to live in peace.
Another religious scholar, Maulvi Abdur Razzaq also said suicide was not allowed in Islam. He asked the Afghan government to establish more Islamic madrasas in
Afghanistan so that the Afghans avoid sending their children to neighbouring countries, where they were misguided and sent back as suicide bombers.
“It is the duty of every Afghan to condemn suicide attacks and the interference of neighbouring countries in Afghanistan’s internal affairs,” Razzaq said.
Logar governor Arsala Jamal stressed the need for holding such gatherings, saying religious and tribal elders could play an effective role in combating suicide attacks.
He said scholars in other provinces should also condemn suicide attacks as against the teachings of Islam.
