TIRINKOT (PAN): A district commander of the Afghan Local Police (ALP) force has been killed in a bomb explosion in central Uruzgan province, an official said on Friday.
Allauddin, the ALP chief for Chora district, was killed in the overnight blast while returning to his checkpoint from a security operation in the restive area.
Uruzgan police spokesman Farid Ayel told Pajhwok Afghan News three other members of the force were wounded in the bombing.
Syed Wali, the former district police chief, said Allauddin had also served as ALP commander in Charchino district. His body was shifted to the Chora district centre.
The Taliban, meanwhile, claimed responsibility for the attack. The group’s spokesman, Qari Yousaf Ahmadi, said the ALP commander had been killed along with several policemen.
