SHIBERGHAN (PAN): Shiberghan, the capital of northern Jawzjan province, was lit up with a system involving 481 solar panels funded by the municipality, officials said on Tuesday.
The streetlight project took four months to complete at a total cost of more than 24 million afghanis, Mayor Mohammad Husain Saleh told Pajhwok Afghan News.
“We have decided to install 50 more solar power units in the Bukhdi part of Shiberghan,” he said, adding they would install 200 panels to light up streets.
As a result of the project, security of the city would improve and petty crimes would be better controlled, hoped the deputy police, Col. Syed Zamanuddin Hussaini.
