JALALABAD (PAN): Two people were killed and three others wounded during a bomb explosion in eastern Nangarhar province on Tuesday, police said.
Attached to a bicycle, the explosive device went off at about 9am near the Behsud bridge, north of Jalalabad, said Nangarhar’s deputy police chief, Col. Masoom Khan Hashimi.
One intelligence operative and a Public Order Police official were killed in the blast, which left three passersby wounded, said police spokesman, Hazrat Hussain Mashriqiwal.
Nangarhar Civil Hospital Director Dr. Humayoun Zaheer confirmed to Pajhwok Afghan News receiving two bodies and three wounded individuals from the blast site. One of the injured was in critical condition, he said.
One witness Amirzada said the bomb exploded at a time when students, government officials and civilians were on their way to the provincial capital. There was no immediate claim of responsibility.
