QALAT (PAN-Kandahar highway.
Police found the victims’ bullet-riddled bodies in the Tarnak area on the outskirts of the provincial capital Qalat on Tuesday evening, the Zabul police chief said.
Brig. Gen. Ghulam Sakhi Rogh Lewanai told Pajhwok Afghan News the corpses had been handed over to the Afghan National Army (ANA). Efforts are ongoing to establish their identities and transfer the bodies to their families.
A doctor at the Zabul Civil Hospital, requesting not to be named, confirmed receiving the bullet-riddled bodies last evening. Security officials took back the corpses late at night, he said.
With no immediate reaction to the incident from the insurgent movement, the doctor claimed the men’s hads had been tied with chains behind their backs.
