GARDEZ (PAN): Three policemen were killed and as many wounded when four suicide attackers stormed a local police training centre in the Aryub Zazai district of southeastern Paktia province on Thursday, official said.
One of the suicide attackers was killed while a second detonated his explosives and the two others managed to flee the scene, a statement from the Ministry of Interior said. A search for the two attackers was underway, it added.
Provincial police chief, Gen. Abdul Ghafar Sapi, said that efforts were being made to arrest the attackers at large.
Dr. Zakaria, head of the provincial hospital, told Pajhwok Afghan News three dead bodies and two injured people had been brought to the hospital. He would not say anything about the condition of the injured.
Azad Khan, the district’s administrative chief, said two bombers targetted the building early in the morning. One assailant blew himself up in front of the district headquarters while the other was shot dead by police.
A witness, Dina Gul, said the attack was carried out on a local police training centre. He had no information about the casualties.
