MEHTARLAM (PANinfo-icon): Two Talibaninfo-icon commanders were killed during a joint operation by Afghan and foreign soldiers in the eastern province of Laghman, an official said on Monday.

Fazal Rabi and Mohammad Nabi were killed in Alishang district on Sunday afternoon, the governor's spokesman, Faizanullah Patan, told Pajhwok Afghan News.

Another two insurgents were arrested during the operation, said the district chief, Faridullah Niazi. Neither civilians nor soldiers were harmed.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Interior said a would-be suicide attacker blew himself up before reaching his target in Barmal district of southeastern Paktika province.

The man was killed when the explosives he was carrying in a tractor went off, a statement from ministry said.
