LASHKARGAH (PAN): Six people were injured on Wednesday as a result of suicide bombing in the southern province of Helmand, officials said.
The explosion occurred at around 10am when the bomber crashed his explosives-laden car into a convoy of the British Provincial Reconstruction) in Lashkargah.
Deputy police chief, Col. Kamaluddin Sherzai, told Pajhwok Afghan News that a policeman and three children were among those wounded in the blast near the police headquarters.
He had no information whether or not foreign soldiers had suffered any casualties in the explosion.
Meanwhile, ISAF said it was aware of the explosion in the Helmand capital. “According to
initial reports, there were no ISAF fatalities and officials are gathering more details at this time,” said a statement from the force.
The bomber ploughed his explosives-laden car into an armoured vehicle of NATO-led forces, witness, Gulab said. “I saw several wounded people, including a foreigner, at the scene.”
Three bullet-proof vehicles of the ISAF soldiers were passing through the area when the asaailant crashed his car into the second vehicle, sid Saheb Khan, one of the injured men.
