PUL-I-KHUMRI (PAN): A 25-year-old man who raped a schoolteacher was sentence to 16 years jail by the Appellant Court in northern Baghlan Province, an official said on Saturday.
The accused, Firoz, had sexually assaulted the 28-year-old victim four months ago, was jailed for 16 years, the Appellant Court Head, Mohammad Rahim Karimi, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
Karimi said the accused had confessed to his crime during the preliminary investigations and efforts were underway to arrest two other culprits involved in the same incident.
However, the accused said he would move the Supreme Court against the Appellant Court’s decision.
On November 26, 2011, the victim was raped by three men at gun-point, after she was kidnapped in Pul-i-Khumri, the provincial capital.
She was abducted from the eighth road of Baghlan-i-Markazi district.
The abductors released the victim in the Salamkhel area after sexual assaulting her.
