6 perish, as many hurt in Faryab attacks

MAIMANA (PANinfo-icon): Six people, including five policemen, were killed in a Talibaninfo-icon attack on a former jihadiinfo-icon commander in western Faryab province on Friday.

Khairullah, a former Junbish-i-Millie commander, came under attack in Qazil Kotal area on the border between Qaisar and Almar districts.

Mohammad Saleh, the administrative head of Almar town, said the anti-Taliban commander and two of his security guards were wounded in the ambush.

Khairullah, a resident of the Qarayi area of Almar, told Pajhwok Afghan News the dead included one of his guards. He was slightly wounded, but his gunmen had to be evacuated to a district hospital.    

Elsewhere in the province, four workers of the Coordination of Humanitarian Assistance (CHA) were wounded during an attack in Kohistan district.

Hayatullah Bakhtari, the NGO provincial chief, said unidentified gunmen stormed CHA office and fired at the workers late Thursday night, injuring four of them.
