LASHKARGAH (PAN): Two policemen were killed and a third injured during a roadside bombing in the Nawa district of southern Helmand province, an official said on Wednesday.
The blast took place late on Tuesday afternoon, when a police vehicle struck the roadside bomb, the deputy coordinator at the Helmand police headquarters told Pajhwok Afghan News.
Col. Mohammad Ismail Hotak said one suspect had been arrested in connection with the explosion. The detainee is currently under investigation. The attack targeted the district police chief, Ahmad Shah, but he escaped unhurt in the explosion.
A Taliban spokesman, Qari Yousaf Ahmadi, claimed responsibility for the bombing. He also said two policemen were killed in the attack.
