Kidnapped tribal elders found dead

Jan 29, 2013 - 18:27

ASADABAD (PANinfo-icon): The dead bodies of two kidnapped tribal elders were found in eastern Kunar province on Tuesday, officials said.

Haji Ali Rahman and Mir Ahmad -- hailing from Saidur and Mashora villages of Chapa Dara district -- were abducted three days ago in Manogai town.

The elders were kidnapped on their way to the provincial capital, Asadabad, the Manogai district police chief, Haya Gul, told Pajhwok Afghan News.

He said the corpses were recovered in the Wadigram area of the district. “Eyes of the tribal elders were gouged out; they were stabbed and sprayed with bullets.”

No one has so far claimed responsibility for the kidnap-slaying incident.
