MAIMANA (PAN): Doctors at the Afghan-Turk Hospital in northern Faryab province on Sunday stopped seeing patients following police misbehaved with some of their colleagues.
Dr. Ghulam Yehya Faiz, one of the protesting doctors at the 100-bed hospital, said policemen forced their way into the medical ward last night and threatened doctors with dire consequences if they were not quick to see a patient.
“If we had no guards at the hospital, the policemen would have killed me”, Faiz said, and warned to continue the protest until their demands were met.
Police chief Maj. Gen. Ghulam Nabi Jan Mullakhel confirmed police had misbehaved with doctors, saying the issue was being resolved through talks.
” I brought my relative to the hospital at 6am after he was stabbed multiple times with a knife, but he is yet to get any treatment,” said Juma Nazar.
