Pakistan blamed for letting rebels sneak into Kandahar

May 30, 2013 - 20:26

KANDAHAR CITY (PANinfo-icon): Pakistani forces are doing nothing to prevent armed insurgents from sneaking into southern Kandahar province from across the Durand Lineinfo-icon, the Governor’s Office said on Thursday.

In a statement, the governor’s office said insurgents, who crossed the border into the Maroof district on Wednesday night, attacked border police posts in Aala Jirgainfo-icon area.

Eight intruders were killed in the ensuing clash with Afghan border police, the statement said, adding weapons and the dead bodies of insurgents remained at the clash site.

“The fighters who came across a Pakistani post near the border did not move to prevent them from entering the Afghan area,” the statement said.
