Taliban-designated Nuristan governor killed

Jun 22, 2013 - 16:57

ASADABAD/ JALALABAD (PANinfo-icon): A Talibaninfo-icon’s shadow governor for eastern Nuristan province was killed during an airstrike in neighbouring Kunar province, a senior official said on Saturday.

Nuristan governor Tamim Nuristani told Pajhwok Afghan News the airstrike was carried out on Friday in the Ghaziabad district of Kunar.

The Taliban-designated governor, Maulavi Dost Mohammad Khan, was killed along with two of his guards in the NATOinfo-icon airstrike, said Nuristani. He said Khan planned every militant attack that took place in Nuristan.

With no Taliban spokesman immediately available for comment, Kunar governor Syed Fazlullah Wahidi said Khan was killed in a drone strike.
